Noise tests

The club fully adopts the BMFA Noise code and will periodically check models on the flight line to ensure compliance. It is the responsibility of all club members to ensure that their models comply with the requirements below. The BMFA noise code requires that:

  • Models with engines running at standstill do not exceed 82 dB(A) measured 7 meters from the model
  • The point of launch is no closer than 500m to noise sensitive premises.
  • No model aircraft flies nearer than 200m to noise sensitive premises.
  • Models are only flown at the recommended times of operation for weekdays and weekends
  • The code does not apply to electric or gas turbine models
